The Vegas Variation!!

“What happens in Vegas…stays in Vegas!!”

Well…It doesn’t have to be that way as there is so much more to Vegas than its extravagant night life. casinos and gambling! I know it is hard to picture Vegas without the glitz and glamour of the casinos but if you can free yourself from the Sin-city spell, you will be surprised to see the other side of it.

Truth be told…I am not poker faced 😱and get really impatient with the series of losses at the unending queues of slot machines!😨😵 I was going to spend just a night in Vegas and I really didn’t want to spend all my time in the confines of a casino. As for my husband…it was his fourth visit to Vegas and he was glad that I was not going to gamble out all his savings!! 😛

  1. The Venetian and the Gondolas :

Luxury gets a whole new meaning here. From the moment you step out of your car, can you see the rich feel all around you. As we were staying at The Venetian, we started our evening exploring its vast expanse.

Venetian is deigned something similar to Venice, Italy and features architectural replicas of various Venetian landmarks. The hotel was designed by KlingStubbins, and the hotel tower contains 36 stories and rises 475 feet (145 m). The Venetian Resort complex is the second largest hotel in the world and trust me it’s a long walk around the place!! 😉

The grand galley as shown in the picture above connects the Reception area to the casino.  The place is beautifully built and can simply take your breath away with the awe inspiring murals and paintings and architecture all around you.

If the gallery didn’t mesmerise you…I am very sure something else will!! 😉 As you reach the end and walk out of the casino, you will notice thousands of shops and restaurant all around you. The beauty of the place is not in the vastness, but the sky that hovers over it. Yes! look again…its an artificial sky which always gives the feel of a cool sunny day! 🙂 It is hard not to fall in love with the idea of an indoor sky and the illusory clouds moving through it.

If the interior of Venetian didn’t remind you of Venice, the genuine gondoliers surely will! 😉 The gondola ride will ship you off to Venice as it takes you on a beautiful journey through the artificial channels made within and around the hotel whilst your gondolier sings in her mesmerizing voice! If you have never been to Venice, this is the best option to indulge your senses and get whisked away to a magical far away land.

The Gondola ride takes you through the endless shops of the Venetian and Palazzo mall and under the mini bridges. The vast porcelain blue painted sky hovers over you whether it is night or day!! 🙂 I seriously lost track of time in this beautifully sculpted man made beauty!! 🙂 🙂

2. The Bellagio Fountains

The next on our list was to enjoy the dancing fountains of Bellagio. The experience of watching it cannot be explicitly put in words. I was so mesmerized by the rhythmic motions of the fountain that I ended up watching 2 shows!! Aside from the dancing streams which are in sync to the timeless voices, the complete ambiance of the place changes. 💕💕It’s short but very varied . Sometimes the flow is delicate and everything seems to vibrate lightly, sometimes it shoots so strongly that it almost looks like fireworks. The song is very captivating and when it ends you have the feeling that you were a part of something really amazing!! Truly the Bellagio Fountains are built to romance your senses! 🙂

3. Downtown Vegas or Fremont Street

The Fremont street is a pedestrian mall and a major attraction in downtown Las Vegas. It has a nostalgic feel to it. In the 1990s, a roof was built over Fremont Street and area of Old Vegas was repackaged as the Fremont Street Experience in an attempt to draw visitors back after numbers sunk thanks to the explosion happening over on ‘The Strip’.

This street is filled with casinos, souvenir shops, restaurants and street entertainers. The canopy of neon lights, music and the crowd transforms the place to a vibrant glitz and glamorous look. You can just walk around the place while you breathe in the vibrant energy all around you or if you have the adventurous kick in your shoe, you can try the zip line called the SLOTZILLA. You get an unprecedented view of the party that never ends as you watch the Fremont strip zip under you!!

I know it must be really absurd to picture Vegas without the glitz of its casino but I think there’s much more to Vegas than ‘the strip’. There’s amazing architecture, great buffets, good shows and street entertainment and lovely places within drivable distance. If you remove all the Las Vegas ads from your mind and just let your hair down and enjoy the place, you might realize that this place has much more to it than the ‘sin city’ tag! Take it from me…It is worth a gamble to visit its other side! 😉
